Affinity, the business of strangers and 3 other movies

Recently I’ve watched quite an amount of films. I was very pleased when I got Sarah Waters’ Affintiy, I was anxious because after Tipping the Velvet and Fingersmith I expected something even more powerful.

And it was a let down. How could that be? I didn’t enjoy the acting, the editing and the actress, Zoe Tapper somehow was wrong in the movie. Maybe the book version is better, for me it seemed that the whole story was rushed…not fully developed. And the end…pfff….better not talking about it. I would not have a problem with it IF the movie was as well-directed and played as the previous two. Hmmm…..all I can say: I’m disappointed.

After that I wathed the movie “The Business of Strangers“. Now that was interesting!

If you watch that film, you will get a little lesbian subtext with Stockard Channing and Julia Stiles, great acting and please, someone kick me because I have to be more aware of Stockard!!! She was amazing! Great chemistry between her and Stiles. Although the movie is a bit slow, the characters are well developed and I just like when after a film you start to think about it and have lots of questions. Sometimes funny, sometimes dark, that’s what I need 🙂

And finally we (Vik and me) watched The Gymnast (beautiful editing!!! Also you have to memorize Ned Farr’s name!!!), Fingersmith (classic) and D.E.B.S. (okay, lot of you will say it’s cheesy but still I enjoyed it for the 5th time as well :D).

It was a great day, my “collection” is extending so watch out for me in the next few days 🙂

And on my YouTube channel I welcomed my 2000th subscriber and gladly noticed that my videos have been viewed over 2 million times!!!!!!! Thanks to all of you!

My favourite fanfictions # 1 (ER – Kim/Kerry)

Here to A Star
By Harriet

The bouquet of roses was a bright spot of color and a point of intense interest on the desk, and Randi did her best to pretend she was ignoring them. But the name on the card was driving her crazy: “DR. KERRY WEAVER”. Fourteen of the reddest long-stemmed roses she’d ever seen were expertly arranged in a large crystal vase, clearly a gift worth well into the hundreds of dollars. And there were fourteen: she’d counted twice, just to be sure. Careful to keep her eye out for Dr. Weaver, she peered closely at the card, hoping against hope that she’d be able to discern the sender just by looking at the envelope.

“Who got the flowers?” Randi nearly jumped a foot off her chair, momentarily terrified that the recipient of the card had busted her for snooping. But it was only Haleh, fortunately, and Randi was grateful for small favors.

One big music festival, an Alanis Morissette concert and a long night

In Hungary, the beginning of August is always interesting: that’s when our biggest music festival, the Sziget festival, is on. Thousands of people, Hungarian, foreigners, unbelievable amount of concerts from jazz to punk-rock, you can find here everything. If you are interested in, visit the offical website here:

http://www.sziget.hu/festival_english

So we decided to go there last night. People everywhere! It was not our first time there – I believe it was the 5th time??? – but it always amazes me how so many people can be on a relatively little island 🙂 Because the Festival is on an island, yes 🙂

After the Alanis Morissette concert, we went to the “Magic Mirrors” tent, which is for the LGBT community mainly. Great music, continous dancing and I swear that was the hottest night ever! 🙂 All in all, it was a really eventful night with lots of beers but never mind the hangover, on Sunday here we come again!!! 😉

3way(s) and an unaired Nikki and Nora pilot

“The hottest lesbian comedy NOT on TV” – if you don’t know what I’m talking about visit this site – is now screening at the LGBT festivals. The show was introduced in February and they went as far as 12 great episodes 🙂 The second season is in production – at least I hope so!! 😉 – and if you are in need of some lesbian action (I mean comedy, comedy!!!) watch them.
Some of you may know that the leading actress is the one from South of Nowhere. When I watched the episodes I was like: hmmm……I know this woman from somewhere…hmmm……after the second episode I knew: Maeve Quinlan, the mother. 😀

And you will meet with other familiar actresses, like Christina Cox (Blood Ties, Better Than Chocolate) and Liz Vassey (CSI:Las Vegas) and I have to confess that after the tv show Nikki and Nora was cancelled, it was great to see them together again in funny scenes 🙂

(In case you don’t know:
Although it didn’t get a pickup when UPN announced its fall lineup, Nikki & Nora, a series about two lesbian private detectives, is the first lesbian-themed drama series in serious consideration for a network TV slot.)

That’s it for now, I will just bury myself into work 😉
